Our story

More than a tea.
A way of being.

The thought
before the tea.

It started as a question.

Where do the things we consume actually come from?
Who made them, and under what conditions?
And what would it look like to engage with them differently?

TerraZiva began with a desire to reconnect people to the systems behind everyday products — to create something rooted in transparency, fairness, and care.

Not as an idea, but as something tangible.

Farmer hands holding fresh green rooibos

The tea.

Rooted in South Africa, rooibos carries a story of land, climate, and community.

A naturally caffeine-free, drought-resistant plant, it reflects a way of growing that works with the environment — not against it.

Carefully harvested and finely milled, it becomes a smooth, grounding cup — subtle, earthy, and naturally nourishing.

By sourcing directly from farming cooperatives, TerraZiva begins with something simple but intentional: a product that respects both people and place.

From product
to experience.

What started as tea quickly became a way to gather.

Through pop-ups, workshops, tastings, and collaborations, TerraZiva has moved across cafés, yoga studios, wellness spaces, community events, and creative venues — creating moments where people can slow down, connect, and experience something together.

Tea became the entry point. The experience became the purpose.

Community gathering

Rooted in South Africa.
Sprouted in Lisbon.
Growing beyond.

TerraZiva began with sourcing in South Africa — honouring the land and communities where rooibos originates.

It took shape in Lisbon, through its creative, conscious, and community-driven spaces.

And now, it continues to grow — through partnerships, events, and collaborations across different places and cultures.

Each new space adds to the story.

Tara, founder of TerraZiva, at a market stall

Meet Tara.

With a passion for sustainability, fair trade, partnerships, storytelling, and community gatherings, Tara created TerraZiva as a way to bring these values into practice.

With a background in project and partnership management, and shaped by over seven years of living and working across different communities in Europe and Africa, Tara brings together a collection of experiences, questions, and ways of seeing the world.

TerraZiva exists as a way to turn ideas and awareness into something tangible — not just through conversation, but through shared experiences, thoughtful products, and truly ethical ways of working.

Not just a business or a project, but a continually evolving process — one that grows with every cup brewed, and every person it reaches.
